F2T 215 – Advanced Core Training for Fire Fighters (Live on Zoom)

Core training can help fire fighters prevent low back injury and improve performance if an emphasis is placed on controlling specific joint POSITIONS and MOTIONS across a range of DEMANDS in different environments

Core training must involve than just side planks and sit-ups, especially when considering the dynamic and often chaotic nature of the fire ground. For fire fighters with performance and injury prevention related goals, core training should be progressed via the fundamental principles of exercise science using complex whole-body activities.  More specifically, an emphasis should be placed on controlling specific joint POSITIONS and MOTIONS across a range of DEMANDS in different environments.

This workshop will discuss the role of the core and considerations when designing core training interventions, and provide attendees an opportunity to experience a variety of core training options with different demands. Come willing to move!
